Ore Factory Squad Inventory Box Overflow & Missing Items

Protect your save and inventory when a co-op Inventory Box transfer appears to lose items after the destination has too few free slots.

By Ore Factory Guide Team · Updated 2026-09-11

Quick answer

A current co-op report says that a non-host player moving an Inventory Box into an inventory with too few free slots may see the overflow items disappear. A developer replied that the case would be investigated and fixed if confirmed. Until a release note names this issue, protect important items: make free space first, move smaller batches, and avoid repeating the trigger on your main save.

These steps reduce exposure; they are not a confirmed fix.

Protect the inventory first

  1. Stop transferring the affected box.
  2. Do not save over your only known-good state if you have a safe backup available.
  3. Count the items in the box and the free inventory slots before another transfer.
  4. Move a smaller batch that clearly fits instead of forcing an overflow.
  5. If co-op play continues, let the host perform the important transfer while you record whether host and guest behavior differs.
  6. Check nearby storage and the original container before concluding that an item was deleted.

Using the host is only a comparison and precaution. The current report does not prove that hosts are immune. For backup and conflict precautions, use the Steam Cloud save guide.

Confirm what actually changed

Write down four counts: items in the box before, free slots before, items received after, and items remaining in the source after. Then check whether the missing amount appears in another container, on the ground, or after reopening the inventory.

Observation What it tells you Next action
All items fit and counts match no overflow occurred in that transfer keep batches within visible free space
Guest loses only the amount above free slots matches the current player-reported trigger stop testing important items and report exact counts
Host and guest both show the same loss the symptom is not guest-only in your session include both roles in the report
Items reappear after reopening or at another destination display or routing may be involved record where they reappear before moving more

Do not reproduce with rare or Contract-critical items. If you need a controlled check, use a small number of low-value items on a backed-up save.

Keep this separate from warehouse routing

This page is about transferring an Inventory Box into player inventory. It is not the same as a Warehouse Robot moving pallets, Stock Sell failing to list finished goods, or a machine output going to the wrong Storage Output. Use the warehouse robot guide for pallet routes and the Stock Sell guide for missing sale inventory.

If the item count is correct but the screen is stale, capture that distinction. If the count is lower in both the source and destination, treat it as possible loss and stop the risky transfer.

Send a report developers can compare

Include the game version, host or guest role, box contents, free slots, before-and-after counts, property, solo or co-op status, and whether reconnecting changed the result. A short recording that shows both inventories is more useful than a screenshot taken only after the transfer. The bug report guide provides the rest of the report structure.

The current Steam discussion about Inventory Box overflow contains the player reproduction and the developer's investigation reply. The official v1.1.0 update mentions general save/load consistency work, but it does not name this later transfer symptom as fixed.
